Shawn Kelly, better known as Coach Kelly, is the Founder and CEO of Project 201, a nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring and empowering youth through sports, education, and leadership.
Before launching Project 201, Coach Kelly served as a correctional officer, where he encountered countless young men who shared the same painful message: "I just needed guidance when I was a kid." As they trusted him with their stories, he recognized a common thread—many of them had never experienced consistent mentorship, structure, or positive role models. Those conversations became the catalyst for his life's mission.
Determined to reach young people before they entered the justice system, Coach Kelly founded Project 201. Through athletics, mentorship, discipline, and real-world life lessons, he serves as a father figure, coach, mentor, and leader, helping young people build confidence, accountability, and character while creating opportunities for a brighter future.
Today, Project 201 continues to impact youth throughout New Jersey by providing safe spaces, strong mentorship, and programs that inspire the next generation to become leaders in their communities.
